Hi,

Noted your short history about a swollen tragus on left.
The possible causes can be one of the following:
Boil or furuncle will show a point.
Chondritis meaning inflammation of the cartilage that forms tragus and may need a long treatment.
Pre-auricular sinus infection in which the pin-point can be seen and needs surgery later on after settling the infection.
TM joint inflammation in which the chewing will be painful.
With any of these conditions you can surely fly.
But consult your Doctor now o have confirmed diagnosis as well as to have a proper course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and as needed as per the condition found out.
Have liquid diet only, stop chewing to avoid increase in edema as the TM joint is just in front.
Do not fondle or press on as edema gets easily spread.
Complete the curse of medications till you are cured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
