Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
There are numerous causes and conditions that produce swelling in the ankles. A few important causes are chronic venous insufficiency, Heart related issues, kidneydisorders, liver problems, water retention etc.

A thorough and detailed evaluation along with a few investigations are needed to establish the correct diagnosis.

I suggest you to consult a General physician for further evaluation and management.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
