What Causes Swelling On Both Sides Of Nose And Face?
I had sinus surgery in May. Turbinate reduction and a balloonoplasty for chronic sinus infections. Things were progressing well until I got a strong head cold a month ago. I ve had constant drainage since that time. Went in for my routine follow up a day ago and the ENT looked rather surprised when they saw how inflamed my left Maxillary was. I also had inflammation above both eyes but no pus. Put me on prednisone, singulair, and Flonase while we wait for the lab results. Now I have facial pain and pain on both sides of the nose. Does that medicine regimen indicate my ENT is pretty concerned about the swelling or is this routine?
This is not routine at all. A good endoscopic examination is necessary to find the cause of the problem. Meanwhile you could try saline nasal drops and steam inhalation; avoid blowing your nose hard.
