What Causes Swelling On The Outer Ears?

My outer ear swells up every few months. It has been going on for about 7 years. No one can figure out what it is or how to treat it other than shoving tons of steroids down my throat. Symptoms can happen within a few hours. They include: enormous inflammation, tenderness, warmth, and pain. It sticks around for about a month, then goes away, then comes back a couple of months later. Is this normal?

possibly it a kind of inflammation of the cartilage material of the pinna called chondritis/chondromalacia and the condition is chronic with flare-ups now and then!

i would like to suggest an FNAC test when the swelling is there for confirmation.

all the best!
