What Causes Swelling On Tibia After An Injury?

Hi there, I have a large bump on my inner tibia toward the middle, partly on the bone and over the muscle. I ve had it for a week after hitting it on a metal rim on a window. It s warm, somewhat tender, pink, minor scrape but that s gone. Is it normal for it to be swollen after a week?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to contusion and hematoma.

As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

You can also apply icepacks for faster recovery.

If symptoms persists you can consult an orthopedician and plan for an X-ray to rule out a fracture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
