What Causes Swelling Post Removal Of The Upper Molar?

Hi I had upper first molar surgically removed six days ago. Now everytime I talk the inside of my cheek rubs the upper second molar next to extracted one. It is irritaded. I feel like the molar still there has moved or is it just swelling? If it is, when should this settle? Thanks

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The swelling following surgical removal of the molar could be inflammatory origin. The swelling will be there for 7days. You have to take a course of antibiotics and analgesics.
The missing tooth has to be replaced since there will be gap between the teeth the adjacent teeth or opposing tooth might start drifting. Even the cheeks will get caught in the edentulous space. Consult a prosthodontist and a oral physician to rule out the above said causes and manage accordingly.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.

Hello and welcome.
Thanks for sharing your concern.

First molar is very important tooth due to its position and function therefore you find this discomfort.Allow the socket to heal completely and get the tooth replaced by either a crown and bridge or an implant.

It will help you esthetically as well as functionally.Negligence in this case might lead to teeth movement and shifting in both the jaws in wrong directions.

Later on once the gap is covered due to other tilted teeth it will be difficult to provide a bridge too. Therefore allow it to heal and see your dentist once in this regard.

Hope it helps.
Thanks.
Take care

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The feeling of the inner side of the cheek moving into the space of upper first molar is common since there is a gap between the teeth. Nothing to worry, consult a oral physician and get the missing tooth replaced with a denture or fixed bridge. Then all the problems will be solved.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
