What Causes Swollen And Itchy Lips Causing Dark Discolouration?
I have swelling and itching on the lips.two days after itching and swelling subsided lips become dark in colour.l have this problem in summer and sunny days.same problem in my hand.after one week lips become normal colour.this occur mostly once in every month.
Swollen and itchy lips that get dark after the itching and swelling is appearing to be due to pigmentation of the lips that can occur post inflammation after an allergic reaction. So my suggestion is to consult first of all consult an emergency room and get evaluated. An allergy test should be done to rule out the exact cause of the allergic reaction. You should avoid exposure to the allergen once it is ruled out. If still there is an allergic reaction then you can take anti-allergics like Levocetirizine or Allegra. Do cool compresses over the lips. Avoid scratching the lips.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
