Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend, whom I haven t seen in a while has dark brown swollen legs ,one being a little scalely. He says they have been getting worse, but has done nothing about them. I have urged him to go see a doctor, do you have any idea from my short description what can be wrong. He is 85yrs
In this age periphral arterial disease are common, that is the arteries get narrows and blood supply to put is insufficient,or a vein become blocked by a thrombus,so leg becomes swollen dark red,hot and causes pain. If i was his treating doctor i would do A doppler ultrasound of leg Ecg Echo D-dimers Than i would establish a diagnosis of either deep vein thrombosis or ischemic vascular disease.. a vascular sirgeon or a physician in your area will be better to consult
