What Causes Swollen Bump On Middle Back Between Shoulder Blades?

I have a small bump on my middle back between shoulder blades, that usually grows and can be painful. It is usually green filled fluid. Lately though during a shower some of it was coming out and I cleaned it and put an antibiotic cream, like aquaphor. It has doubled in size and is still swollen. Could this be a cyst or something else? I've had this small fluid bump for many years, and now it's increased in size. thank you.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of Sebaceous cyst with secondary bacterial infection thus leading to pain and increase in size.

I would advice that you get a prescription for an oral antibiotic from your local care practitioner for secondary bacterial infection. Once the infection resolves, the cyst need to be surgically removed along with the cyst wall,in order to prevent its recurrence.

take care
regards
