What Causes Swollen Groin Lymph Nodes In Case Of Prostatitis?

My 29 year old son was diagnosed with prostatis after having pain on urination and a negative urine culture. He is on Cipro for 1 week and the painful urination is gone but now he has more discomfort in the groin/pelvic area and seems to have a swollen groin lymph node. Are these expected symptoms of prostatitis?

Hi, thank you for asking healthcare magic
I understand your concerns
It is possible for prostatitis to present with swollen lymph nodes in the groin area. But that notwithstanding, some other causes might be implicated.
In your son's case. it is probable that prostatitis is responsible.
If the swollen lymph node does not disappear after treatment, then a biopsy might be needed. You do not need to worry for now. Let him continue taking his drugs.

I hope I have answered your query
I wish him well
