Lumps in the neck that may be associated with sore throat are most commonly lymph nodes.
Lymph nodes are found in different points of the body and they respond to infection or inflammation in the surrounding areas. The lymph node in your neck would be enlarged because of the infected sore throat.
Lymph nodes can also enlarge due to more serious causes.
Normally ,if due to infection then should resolve 4 to 6 weeks after the infection has resolved.
I hope this helps
