What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck?

I have, what seems to be, a swollen lymph node on the side of my neck. I noticed it 5 months ago and didn t give it much attention, since at that time, I wasn t feeling so great. Recently, I ve had some stiffness in my neck, low grade fever on/off, and I have been tired more then normal. The bump hasn t gotten any larger or smaller. I know I need to go to the doctors but I was wondering what could cause this. I do have a bad tooth on that side of my mouth but it hasn t been painful at all. Any suggestions? ~Feda

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

The causes for swollen lymph nodes in the neck could be anything from a simple mild infection to a more chronic granulomatous infection to any sinister causes like cancer. i am not trying to scare you, but any long standing swelling has to be evaluated by an ENT - he may do an FNAC test too. Please visit your nearest facility.
