What Causes Swollen Neck Gland After Eating Strawberries And Peaches?
I was eating strawberries and the gland in my neck on the left side swelled up-huge. It did go back down but ever since then I ve had problems. I was eating Strawberry yogurt and the gland started to swell a bit and it hurt when I swallowed. Same thing happened while eating peaches. It s only on the left side. What is going on??
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems that you have clogged duct of the left submandibular salivary gland.. The ducts gets blocked with either some foreign body or formation of crystalline stones from the minerals present in saliva. As during eating the saliva flow increases therefore when the duct is blocked the saliva cannot flow to mouth from gland and flows back to the gland leading to accumulation in the gland and swelling.. There can also be pain and difficulty in swallowing due to swelling..
You should consult an Oral physician and get evaluated and a radiograph can help in making a correct diagnosis..
In case of stones surgical removal has to be done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
