What Causes Swollen Throat And Ear And Fluid Collection In Ear?
I have an ulcer in the back of my mouth, likely caused by an autoimmune disorder. The left side of my throat is also very swollen. Eating is extremely painful. My earlobes are also swollen and pussy, and I have not worn earrings in months. I have a lot of fluid in my ears and I have been previously diagnosed with vertigo. Is there something that can be causing these symptoms?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history. The autoimmune disorder means when the body stops recognizing that particular part of the body as not its own and hence shows the symptoms that you have, namely the non-healing ulcer in the mouth, the ear lobules and so on. The treatment is definitely repeated courses of oral steroid in tapering dosages, addition of therapeutic dosages of Vitamin A and D, multivitamins and so on. The cause of the fluid in the ear can be infection from the throat being transferred from the nasopharynx to the ears. and vertigo can be due to fluid under pressure in the ear or due to swelling gone into inner ear and causing imbalance. I would advise you to consult an ENT Surgeon for detailed evaluation, examination, biopsy and further investigations and treatment. An opinion of a Rheumatologist is also valuable.
