I have been experiencing tender breasts and sore nipples for about three weeks now. There are no lumps, dryness or leaking of the breasts. No redness or swelling. I am just trying to figure out why my breasts are sore? I thought it could be my bra but I have worn the same brand and style of bra for over a year and have had no problems until now.
The soreness of breasts or mastalgia is often a part of premenstrual syndrome which can present 7-10 days prior to the onset of menses due to progesterone effect into the luteal phase and its withdrawal.
Also seen heaviness in breasts in cases of hyperprolactinemia with increased serum prolactin levels. So its best to rule that out before labelling it as premenstrual.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
