What Causes Tender Spot Below The Lower Lip?

I have a spot just below my lower lip, just slightly touching the lip. It s been there fore a very long time, well over 6 months. It s tender but not painful unless I touch it. Occasionally, it will peel but even then, it doesn t go away. It doesn t bleed - it s just there and visible.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that a tender spot below lower lip that is tender to touch and peels at times can be due to causes like Chronic Hairfollicle infection or Folliculitis, ingrown hair while it can also be a dermoid or epidermoid cyst..

I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and a clinical examination and if needed a biopsy of the lump can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

In case if sit is an ingrown hair or folliculitis antibiotic and steroid ointment can help in regression..
In case if it still does not resolve surgical removal can help..

In case of cyst surgical removal is the only option..
