What Causes Tender Spot On Ribs?

I have a very tender spot on one of my ribs...right side at the bottom, between the back and side. It almost feels like a swollen lymph node when pressed. I have not had any recent injuries to that area. It is worse in the morning and wakes me up occasionally. What could it be?

After going through your query I cancluded that you are most likely having muscular pain with trigger point which is tender. I generally treat such trigger spots by local injection of triamcilone with good results. Rest and analgesic are useful. You can further investigate it by high resolution CT scan of chest.You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered.
