Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tenderness On Upper Region Of Navel And Difficulty Bending?
I have tenderness/ pain internally at upper edge of navel. It's sore to a light touch and when bending over or with movement of my waist. I've had this for past 3 days. I have no digestive problems. The tender area is about 1 inch in diameter. I feel a small lump there. Is this something for my internist or my gastroenterologist to examine?
Welcome to HealthCare Magic. Thank you for posting your query. I can understand your concern.
I have a few questions. 1. Have you undergone any abdominal surgeries previously? 2. Does the lump increase when you cough?
What I can make out from your description is that it may be an umbilical hernia that is causing the discomfort. Do not worry.
I would suggest you to visit a surgeon. He/she can examine you and correlate clinically. With proper treatment like abdominal exercise , braces and surgery(depending on the severity) it can be treated.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day. Regards.
