What Causes Terrible Headache After Taking Microgestin?

I am a 45 year old women that has been taking Microgestin Fe 1.5 birth control, I get terrible headaches around my period and I have gained quit a bit of weight, (eat normal and excercise) so my doctor suggested, Lo Loestrin Fe, could I lose a few pounds due to the lower estrogen? Thank you.

Hello,

The lower estrogen content of the pill may very well help with a couple of things. One would be the intensity of the headaches and the other may be a less significant weight gain effect than perhaps the other pill caused.

There are approaches and medications that work very well for premenstrual headaches if this is NOT a new problem or one that is being made WORSE by the Microgestin Fe.

A headache specialist could help you along those lines.
