What Causes Terrible Taste In Mouth After Using Dentures Cleaned With Efferdent?
I used efferdent to clean my dentures, I guess I am allergic to the phosphate or whatever is in it and now my mouth tastes terrible and my toungue keeps getting red. How do I get this out of my dentures. They are not redlined. I have soaked them, brushed them etc. HELP
Efferdent is a antibacterial denture cleaner. It infact Kills the germs that cause denture odor. It contains PERSULFATES , i suspect you are allergic to the product due to which you have tongue irritation. Discontinue the use , if your dentures seem to have its smell you can get the dentures polished from a dental lab. POlishing of the denture with pumice removes the effects of the product and will help you use it.
Hello, thank you for consulting with healthcaremagic.
If you are experiencing these problems only after cleaning the denture then it can be allergy of the efferdent only as allergy causes redness, etching and altered taste in mouth. Better you should get the solution changed or once visit your dentist to get your denture examined for any high point which is causing irritation in tongue.
This could be probabaly due to allergy caused by the solution. I would suggest you to take lukewarm saline rinses 3-4 times a day to give soothing effect. Take multivitmin suplements.
Take care!
