What Causes The Bottom Gums To Loosen During Pregnancy?
Hi my name is ashley im 20 yrs old and pregnant my bottom gums are loose they so loose i can take my finger nail and pull down on it and see down in there not far but half way i wanted to know what causes this and what can keep it from happening and what can prevent it. Thanks Ashley
This happens due to vitamin C and folic acid deficiency and/or associated gums infection. During pregnancy, there is increased demand of all the vitamins. They are required for the growth of the baby. If no proper supplementation is given, or if there is already deficiency of them in the body, they can lead to these problems. Along with the medicines that your obstetrician will prescribe you for this, please consume plenty of green leafy vegetables, lemon, citrus fruits in your diet. Also there are herbal powders available in the pharmacy to be applied to the gums and massaged. They help to bind the gums to the teeth tightly. You may get the prescription from the dentist. Also please rule out worms infestation and/or amoebic infection of gastro-intestinal tract. If present you will have to take the treatment for that. Please take the treatment from Obstetrician only as some of the deworming medicines are harmful to the baby in the womb.
