Hello! I have a soft, sometimes itchy mass growing on the side of my head. It is soft and yields somewhat to pressure and it grows slowly. Now it is about one inch in diameter and about half an inch in height. The shape is fairly circular, like a half dome.
I have had another similar scalp cyst in the past that was removed by a surgeon.
A dermatologist recently told me that it was too large for her to cut, clean out and sew back the skin flaps and that I needed to have the operation performed by a plastic surgeon. I was also informed that this would be an expensive intervention; between $1000 and $1500, plus additional lab fees.
Is there a different, non surgical method to deal with this issue? I am a poor person and can hardly spend that kind of money.
The main problem that this scalp mass presents is occasional discomfort, itchiness and a visible ugliness (I am bald) that seems to affect other people negatively. I am 64 years old and, otherwise, in good health. And, yes, uninsured
Thanks for your attention to this, Fernando
