What Causes The Habit Of Keeping Tongue Out In Children?

My son 14 months old, I'm not sure whther he is having a peculiar habit. From the day he was born, he is having an habit of keeping his tounge out. until now we never took this as an issue. But now, since he started to get teething, we worried if he gonna hurt his touge by accidentally fall over (in the future)

so now my question is, is this something to be worried about and how can we cease this habit?
