What Causes The Inclusion Of Endometriosis Tissue In The Pap Smear?
Hello, I recently had a pap smear and was told that the results were normal but that I had endometrial tissue included in the smear. Now the gynecologist would like to follow up with a vaginal ultrasound. I was also at the end of my period when the cervical sample was taken. I m not sure why an ultrasound would be warranted and I explained that I had also had a recent period when the pap smear was taken. I am 55 years old and a month prior to meeting with the gynecologist, had a laparoscopy followed by removal of severe endometriosis on my left fallopian tube and ovary. A serous cystadenoma as well as an endometrioma were also removed on my left side. I had a left sided salphingo oophorectomy performed. I also had a D & C performed during this operation. I am a little worried that another ultrasound has now been ordered despite the normal pap smear results. Any thoughts?
