What Causes The Minimum Amount Of Fluid In The Douglas Pouch?

Hi, today I had an ultra sound and the report said that I have a minimal amount of fluid in the pouch of Douglas while everything else is normal and it also said that dominant follicles are present in both ovaries which is good according to the radiologist. I went through this ultra sound because I have been having prolonged spotting during my periods and it lasts up to 15 days that is why it was much of a concern to me. What do you think is wrong here? I m really stressed out about my prolonged spotting before and after my periods.

Hi there, I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

First of all do not panic..

USG report suggests that there is collected fluid behind the uterus.
This can be normal , fluid in the abdominal cavity- peritoneal fluid or opt can be due to some kind of pelvic inflammatory disease.

Please get a gynecology check up done including per speculum and per vaginal examination.
This will help to know about cervical erosion or polyp and also about pelvic infection.

Please seek prescription support from your treating doctor for a broad spectrum antibiotic like Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 5 to 7 days.

For treatment of the spotting before and after menses, I will suggest you to add progesterone hormone support in the second half of the menstrual cycle.
PleasePwlease seek prescription support from your treating doctor for Tablet Regestrone Misoprostol 2 times a day for 10 days from day 16 of the cycle for next 3 months.
If spotting does not stop, then diagnostic Hysteroscopy with endometrial biopsy is advisable.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
