What Causes The Outbreak Of Itchy Spots On The Upper Body?

I take niacin, and have been as well as atorvastatin. I take 325 mg asa prior to taking my niacin, which is taken bid. I am now broke out in little itchy spots all over my upper body. I feel flushed just like I didn t take my asa. I just took two asa, but don t think I will take my niacin tonight, cause I feel very flushed. Will get some blood work done I believe in the morning (fasting).

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are having allergic dermatitis. If does not seem to be due to medicines.
My treatment advice is -
1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
