I am about to start my 3rd IVF cycle. (1st ended in D&C at 8 weeks, 2nd non successful). I am 40y/o and about to start my 3rd cycle. The center is closed till July 14, so my doctor put me on climara (estrogen) patch (0.1MG from the 10th day after I detected ovulation till 7/14. every other day to change it) to make sure i will NOT get period (that's what he told me earlier) before that date. But I got my period today 7/9. My specialist is on vacation, so the nurse told me not to worry, to stay on the patch till 7/14, and to come to the center on 7/14 and start the medication.
I am worried; it will be 6 days after my period started. And usually I start the IVF stimuli medication on day 2 of the period, so how can it be ok to start on day 6????. My questions are:
1. Why did I have the period if I am wearing the 0.1MG patch? Was something not work right
2. Why she didn't cancel the cycle? I am afraid that I will start to produce follicles already and then it will be less than I should, because we hold the stimuli.
3. What is the best for me to do? Wait for next cycle or proceed as she says?

I am a physical therapists with understanding in human anatomy, please explain in medical terms as needed
