Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my pulse is very high, can be up to 124. When I stand up, my bp drops a lot. I get dizzy, tightness in the chest and feel ill. I am seeing a cardiologist, my stress test wasn't good, I couldn't complete it. my bp dropped very low when I was on the treadmill, I got off sat down and shot up. I am waiting for 24hr urine results and ct of the head. Have any clue what's going on? I am very weak and out of breath going up stairs?
Based on the information you have given, your symptoms indicate Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). In this condition, the heart rate rises above 120 beats per minute, usually within the first 10 to 15min and blood pressure drops drastically.
POTS can be diagnosed by a Tilt Table test, however if a tilt table is not available it can be done bedside. Have your blood pressure measured in supine (laying down) position and then standing position at 2, 5, and 10 min interval. Blood pressure drops instead of an increase in POTS.
Please feel free to write in with any more questions and your progress.
Hope this helps.
