What Causes Thick Vaginal Discharge?

Hi! I’m 23 and last month noticed that the consistency of my Vaginal discharge was thicker than normal. It also has a strange sour taste. Last week, my period started but it was extremely light and only lasted 2 days. I’m currently taking Birth Control but have been since March 2017. I’m very worried that something might be wrong. Can you help? -Suzi

I think I have understood your concern, I will try to suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1) First of all do not panic.
2)The change that you have noticed can be due to some kind of vaginal infection.
I will suggest you to use Lactic acid containing vaginal wash daily at bath time.
Please seek prescription support from your treating doctor for oral anti fungal like Fluconazole and vaginal pessary containing Clindamycin and Clotrimazole.
3)I understand that you are already on birth control pills, still please ask your partner to use Condom fro a couple of weeks just to avoid crossing over of infection.
4)If reinfection occurs please seek treatment for both the partners.
