What Causes Thick White Crusty Scab On Pinna Part Of Ear?
I am a caregiver and have a resident that has a thick white crusty scab on the pinna part of the ear. We are suppose to apply some kind of steroid lotion to his ear. I think it is lotion that has dried and been applied over and over. What do you think?

Hello, Welcome to HCM. Pinna the external part of the ear showing crusty swab for which you have suggested the topical steroid. Application of steroid may have led to the dryness of the pinna. If it is a fungal infection symptoms may aggravate. I would have suggested you to prescribe some anti fungal ointment it may work. If symptoms persist refer the resident for expert opinion. Than you.
