What Causes Throat Burning Sensations With Pain?

I have extreme burning in the throat, (was a smoker & feels like that same burn feeling). They don t think it is strep. I was prescribed & take 5+/325 mg. Hydroco/apap when it starts hurting @ 5:00 pm. & sometimes have to take more for the pain to go away. Even though these symptoms have only become worse since my last oncology apt. (I have thrombocytosis=E.T.), is my oncologist obligated to see me without an apt. Monday a.m. and if not where do I get help & relief? Help! K

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

It is necessary performing a throat discharge bacterial culture and also check for fungal infection before concluding that it is something related to the nerves. If these tests result normal, I would recommend trying Pregabalin or Gabapentin for the burning sensation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
