Lump in the throat like sensation is commonly due to globus pharyngeus, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that causes the stomach's contents to travel back up the food pipe and sometimes into the throat. This can result in muscle spasms that trigger feelings of an object caught in the throat. High level of stress and nervousness may also cause similar sensations. Other medical conditions that cause similar symptoms are lymph nodes, tonsillitis, common cold, throat cancer, goiter, etc.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT. Get all blood workouts and imaging tests done so that the treatment can be started at the earliest. In the meantime, gargle your throat with warm water and salt twice daily. Take semi solid food so that you don't hurt your throat. You can take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one SOS after food to ease pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
