What Causes Throat Pain And Tiredness?

My throat has been hurting for about four days and I extremely tired. I don t know if I should see the doctor or if I just have a cold. I don t have any lumps in my throat or white stuff. My throat just feels like sand paper. I haven t had a fever or anything. However my spouse has been having a nasty cough for 3 weeks and I feel I got it.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
You have a good observation that you do not have any findings in your throat still have the sand paper -feeling in the throat.
You wife has a nasty cough for about three weeks.
If you both do not have infective pathology then the obvious reason is GERD.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease cases this sand-paper like feeling the throat and even on examination there may not be any findings.

I would advise you the following:
Get an upper GI endoscopy to see the gastritis and hiatus hernia.
Get started on PPI, Domperdone and antacid gel at 3 hourly interval.
Soft bland diet,
No stress or anxiety.
Quiet sleep.
All these measures will help you to recover well.
