What Causes Throbbing Pain And Burning Sensation Above Knee Cap?

About six inches above my knee cap on the front of my leg, I have had a very localized throbbing and burning sensation deep in that area for close to a year. It comes and goes, and there is no swelling or discoloration in the area associated with it. Can t really predict when it is going to happen, but when it does it burns and throbs in about a two inch area deep in the leg. No shooting pains down the leg at all. Just in this very small area. Can be very bothersome when it happens. Usually lasts an hour or so. I am 59 years of age and in good health.

It comes and goes means it can be autoimmune disorder. However you can do hemogram. also can go for MRI OF of knee joint with lower end of femur.Proper diagnosis can now be made and you can consult orthopaedic surgeon.
