What Causes Tightness In Chest After Taking Flucloxacillin?

Hi, i went to the doctor with pain in my calf that ive had for 4 weeks and also mastitis.he said i have a cyst behind my knee and said i couldnt take ibprofen cause of breastfeeding my 1 year old but prescibed flucloxacillin for mastitus.after taking 2 doses i felt terrible and had terrible trouble sleeping due to severe tightness in my chest and it felt like my heart was missing a beat.after another dose today i feel like my head and face are swelling and im having to take deep breathes.went back to doctor who said it is an allergic reaction, however it has been 9 hours since i took a dose and i feel no better. How long is this going to last please.

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
It seems you are having an allergic response to flucloxacillin, which is fairly common. If you are still having problem then please go to ER and get checked by a doctor as soon as possible because such problems can take serious turn very fast. You should be treated with H1 antagonists and steroids after the initial urgent stabilization.
