What Causes Tightness In Chest And Throat Pain After Reducing Smoking?
I am 23 and have quit daily smoking but still smoke on the weekends, I have recently started to run. After I run my chest becomes tight and throat hurts, I am wheezing and coughing, but after about 20 minutes the symptoms are going away, is this normal?
Hi welcome to HCM. The symptoms which you are currently experiencing are related all the damaged mucosa by the smoking particles, now effects of which are being evident after you have reduced smoking. These changes are related to Acute Bronchitis post smoking which lead to symptoms of cough, wheeze and chest tightness in susceptible individuals.Drugs like inhalational steroids and bronchodilators are the mainstay of treatment.I advise you to quit smoking once for all ,rather than reducing it.Consult your pulmonologist for further queries. Thank you.
