What Causes Tightness On The Neck And Shoulder While Suffering From TMJ?

I have TMJ and have been going to physical therapy. She has been working on my neck and shoulders because they have been tight but now it's more pain and sensitiveness than just a knot. What could it be? Can it be sore from the massage or just really tight?

Hello,
You are suffering from an ailment called Myofascial Pain Dysfunction syndrome. A condition resulting in stiffness of muscles in & around the TMJ. Physical therapy is the right move towards relieving the soreness in the muscles. But in addition a muscle relaxant tablet taken twice a day for 5-7 days will relieve the pain rather more quickly.
