What Causes Tingling And Numbness In Hands?

I'm a 42 hr old female. I have had tingling and numbness in both of my hands for several years now. This year I started a job that requires me to type a lot. My tingling and occasional lazy feeling hands has turned into pain. To top it off, I also overextended my left shoulder by trying to grab onto the back of my car as I was falling onto the ice (it felt like I ripped a muscle in my arm pit). At the current time my arm pit is actually quite fine, however the top of my shoulder hurts. Cant tell whether it's muscular or other. After pushing the grocery cart the other day my left hand became red and swollen and the veins were bulging. Also my knuckles on both hands have been swelling. Any ideas?
