What Causes Tingling Feeling In The Lower Legs?

My right foot and lower leg have been slightly asleep for more than 24 hours now. I can feel them fine but they have a slight tingling feeling. Not sure why. And obviously I'd like to figure this out, because I would like to know if my foot is going to fall off in the middle of the night
