What Causes Tiny Ballpoint White Spots In The Corners Of My Upper Lip?
I am 24 year old woman and I have tiny ballpoint white spots in the corners of my upper lip. on the left side there are about 7 or 8 tiny spots. On the right side there is one spot but it is the size of a small cluster made into one. they do not hurt or irritate me but when I found them it worried me. they look like small pimples under the skin. The one on the right side feels elevated and the ones on the left side feel slightly elevated.
I would keep a possibility of Fordyce spots which are asymptomatic yellow to white spots sometimes coalescing to form patches. They are actually ectopic sebaceous glands(ectopic because the lips are hairless; normally sebaceous glands open into the hair follicle).
They are otherwise not a concern except that they can be a cosmetic problem in some. Treatment is destruction of the glands with either CO2 Laser or Radiofrequency cautery by a dermatologist, under local anesthesia.
take care regards
