I have suddenly developed tiny brown spots on my right calf. I noticed them for the first time today. (I have been ill with a chest cold for 2 weeks--no cough, just chest congestion.) The spots have my frightened. I have a mole or large freckle on my leg which now shows a tiny dark spot. I am a fair skinned caucasian. I am a healthy, 62 year old female. I am not overweight, and I do not smoke. I take setraline and lamotrogine for bipolar depression and have been using it successfully for several years. I occasionally use lorazepam to sleep, but use no there drugs. I am afraid of melanoma or skin cancer.
Hyperpigmentation by melanin may cause brown pigmantation. More sun exposure may cause brown spots. Cappilary blood leakage may cause brown spots.
High insulin level in blood may cause acanthosis nigra. In acanthosis nigra most commone site for brown spots are calf area. Check your blood sugar leval.
Diabetes and obesity is risk factor for that. Poor skin care may cause brown spots.
