What Causes To Have 10 Bowel Movements During Pregnancy?

Hi I am 36 + 2 days pregnant and I have today been for a bowel movement ten times. Is this normal?? I have been back and forth to hospital in past couple of weeks with pains and tightenings. Today my back is also very painful and I have had steroids for babies lungs. Any ideas of why so many bowel movements??

Hi,
Thanks for consulting us.
10 bowel movements in a day is definitely abnormal. This may lead to dehydration specially in a pregnant lady.
Some women may experience diarrhea during early labor due to prostaglandin release but it should not be that much.
A drug reaction could also have caused this.
You should take plenty of fluids preferably ORS ( Oral rehydration salt) & report this to your doctor who may prescribe you some medicine with or without a stool test depending upon your clinical history.
Take care.
