I have had strep throat a lot as a kid and the last time I m aware I had it my doctor told me if I got it again that I d have to have my tonsils taken out. Well I noticed recently that my left tonsil appears to be almost rotting off. It s smaller now and detached from the top and kind of just hanging in the middle of my throat. It s not sore and I seem to have symptoms of a regular cold. I did a lot of research and I can t tell if it s tonsillitis or tonsil cancer or what? I am going tomorrow to get a medical card so I can go to a doctor. Any idea as to what this is? I thought maybe my tonsil is just removing itself? Because it s not sore at all. Please help.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your problems. The tonsil getting loosened up may need Tonsillectomy for removing the disease and to get an histopathological diagnosis to see if this is benign or malignant. Recurrent sore throat may not be because of strep throat all the time in all the patients. Get an opinion of an ENT to have clinical evaluation, treatment and follow-up.
