What Causes Transgender Feelings?

Hello doctor. I am 31, married with a family and a good career. I have always had transgender feelings all my life. Earlier, I would cross dress, imagine myself as a woman and a couple times i have also spent time with a man thinking of myself as a woman. But, recently the feelings have started to increase and I am just not sure what to do with it. I cannot come out and tell anyone and I feel I am just stuck. Any suggestions?

Welcome to HCM
This is Dr Amit. I can understand your concern very well
In my opinion except for the sex chromosomes and gonads all bodily differences between men and women must be attributed to the actions of sex hormones i.e testosterone and estrogen. Such feelings are mainly due to altered level of testosterone and estrogen.
I will advice you to seek medical advice from psychiatrist as early as possible. He/She can very well help you in this condition by doing counselling and treatment for hormonal imbalance if any.
Hope i have given satisfactory answer to your question
Regards
