What Causes Triangular Shapes In The Field Of Vision?
Hello, I am a 59 year old male. I have recently begun seeing triangles when star gazing. They only show on my left eye. My right eye shows a point of light like expected, but my left eye shows each star as a little traced out triangle, as if my eye is in jittering and following a triangler shaped path. I don t notice this during the day at all, but it does show up consistently at night when star gazing. Other lights in the distance do the same thing, but it needs to be a point source. This isn t noticeable when looking at larger objects. This has been occuring for 2-3 weeks. I wear glasses for reading only.
Hi there, Welcome to HCM. Your symptoms could be due to - early stages of cataract,a natural aging process where the normal clear lens starts to get cloudy(Most of the patients usually mention it as a glare, especially when driving at night while looking at headlights) or
-astigmatism where your vision is not clear in one axis and needs a new prescription for sharpness.
Just a couple of questions- 1.When was the last time you had an eye exam? 2.Did your doctor mention anything about Cataract/glasses for distance vision?
If its been quite a while, please do have an eye exam done,so your doctor will check your vision, status of your lens(any cataract changes....) and also assess the back of the eye-the retina.
Hope this answers your query.Take care.
