I had Trichomoniasis a few years ago. My boyfriend and I went to the gyno and she said it is a STD and can't be contracted any other way. I did not sleep with anyone else but my boyfriend and he was a virgin. I had been swimming a lot at that time. I was swimming in very dirty lake water and my aunt's pool that had chemicals that I had not had contact with before. I was also sitting in a wet bathing suit a lot. Could you please tell me how you think I contracted this because he still calls me a liar and a cheater all these years later. It affects my mental health because I did not sleep with anyone else. Please help me. Thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Trichomoniasis infection can be transmitted by sexual route. However, besides being sexually transmitted, the infection can be contracted by other means also like change in vaginal flora, unhygienic conditions etc. You need to consult your gynecologist for treatment of the infection with appropriate antimicrobials. You need to explain this to your partner or get him counselled by a gynecologist.
