What Causes Trouble In Drinking And Eating?

Hi, I was just down for a week with and flu like symptons (chills, aches, fever, sore throat, vomiting) and just nibbled on toast and jello and drank gatorade and water. After visiting the doctor , I was diagnosed with infected tonsils and given antibiotics and ibuprofen. The problem is Im having trouble drinking and eating. Every drink causes a burp and feels like a large air bubble is trapped in my stomach or chest to the point where it almost causes vomiting. Is this just trapped air or because of the infected tonsils ?
