What Causes Twitching Of Arms, Legs And Eyes Of A 3 Month Baby?

My three month old son is having twitching spells. Both arm and legs. He is coherent during these and will follow you with his eyes and even smile. He does not seem in distress and does not cry or become agitated afterward. He continues twitching if I pick him up. What could this be?

By what you quote I put forth these possibilities -

1. Simple Jitteriness which doesn't require treatment and will go off by itself.

2. Calcium deficiency and I suggest you see your pediatrician for this.

3. Myoclonic jerks which will again require medical attention immediately.
