What Causes Unconsciousness After A Head Injury?

My daughter just hit her head very hard against her headboard. She s coherent, talking fine, no loss of consciousness, but she said that she saw flashes of light when she hit her head. Should I take her to the doctor? It s 10:30 here so it would have to be the emergency room.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Seeing flashes of light after a head injury need to be investigated. Immediately there may no loss of consciousness or any other symptom but later certain injuries may be discovered. Thus, I suggest you to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations like CT scan head.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
