Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 94 year old grandmother had a minor stroke a month ago.
the dr. changed her blood pressure meds, and her pressure has been fine. she had an eye infection for a week and with meds it was alot better. She's been tired alot lately. This evening after dinner she fell asleep in her chair and a few minutes later I went to put her to bed and she was unconcious, teeth had fallen out of her mouth and tongue was hanging out of her mouth, she was still breathing but unconscious, what couldve happened to her?
hi, as i can figure out here, the major complaint here is the unconsciousness with the underlying hypertension on medications. Stroke is the most common conditon that appears to be the cause here as she is having hypertension and on meds. As there is no history of fall or head injury, traumativ brain injury is ruled out. It is imp to consider the kind of medication she is on, as certain meds does predispose for brain bleeds tendency. I suggest an MRI brain would make the diagnosis clear here. An urgent consultaion for neurologist is warrantred here.
welcome for further consutations. thank you.
